  • In search of the perfect Colorado ski town

    By Amy | Posted 11/28/2007 | 2 Comments

I have noticed that when someone is planning to head out to a ski town for the first time, they often start their search with the state of Colorado. Colorado skiing, Colorado jobs, real estate … travel. This Rocky Mountain state is definitely the place where people are looking to go. With 26 ski resorts … makes a lot of sense!

How often do you find articles written about the work/life balance of let’s say, an engineer or an architect based in a place like Jackson Hole, Vail … or Park City, Utah?

  • A mountain town Thanksgiving; eating, skiing and being thankful!

    By Amy | Posted 11/21/2007 | 0 Comments

Little to no snow, more eating … early season snow, more skiing. If you are a local resident in town for the holidays and not working, Thanksgiving Day will most likely be all about eating, skiing and (hopefully) being thankful. Although the actual meeting time for your holiday feast will often vary each year (dependent upon the current weather), the end result will inevitably stay the same … just a big ole party with family and good friends.

    By Amy | Posted 11/18/2007 | 1 Comment

With all the gloomy ski posts and articles floating around the internet due to the lack of snow … thought I would pass this one along from an Alta, Utah ski blog I found earlier today highlighting the ski report from Alta, Thanksgiving week, six years ago.

  • Rocky Mountains pray for snow; Utah and Colorado ski resorts delay openings

    By Amy | Posted 11/17/2007 | 0 Comments

It can get a little nerve-racking at this time of year for locals and tourists alike anxiously awaiting the snow, but trying to predict when it is going to happen may be futile as the date of its arrival is something that only Mother Nature really knows.

  • Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah resort towns discuss sustainability, affordability and growth

    By Amy | Posted 11/09/2007 | 0 Comments

Places like Aspen, Colorado, Whitefish, Montana, Ketchum, Idaho, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Park City, Utah … they may be different in their levels of affordability and character, but they all similarly continue to draw an increasing number of people seeking an exceptional quality of life. This of course creates the challenge of how to preserve the very reason people are attracted to these mountain towns in the first place.

Sometimes I “stumble” … StumbleUpon is one of my favorites. There is a little ”stumble!” button right at the upper left hand corner of my computer screen, and every now and then I “stumble” and find great new websites/blogs that match the interests that I have set up in my StumbleUpon account. The other day I stumbled upon,

  • What makes your mountain town special?

    By Amy | Posted 11/02/2007 | 2 Comments

My love for the mountains began in the mid 70’s while staying in the small town of Salisbury, Vermont and hiking the trails of Mount Moosalamoo. From then on, I have always found something special about all of the mountain towns that I have visited throughout the years. They all have their own unique personalities and mountain ranges … filled with locals who obviously love being there (isn’t it often the people that make the town so special?).
