Base Salary
Responsibilities include: Responsible for full-cycle accounting through month-end reporting. Oversees the accounts payable system and vendor management. Also answers all vendor inquiries and year end 1099s. Oversees accounts receivable function including invoicing, coding, depositing payments. Prepares and analyzes financial statements for management’s review. Prepares bank reconciliations for cash and investment accounts. Prepares month end journal entries and maintain proper accounting reconciliations as required, including (but not limited to) fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals and temporarily restricted net assets. Prepare annual budget and track monthly performance to budget and lead a monthly finance review meeting. Manages cash flow including analysis and forecasting. Prepares and presents financial packet for Board of Trustees meetings (3X per year). Coordinates accounting and tax information for outside CPA firm. Works with auditors to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other non-profit accounting principles, prepares financial statements and audit work papers. Works with and provides information to Keystone’s current payroll and benefits provider for payroll processing. Serves as a liaison for staff in the administration of their fringe benefits including annual renewal process and addressing ongoing questions and changes. Maintains a solid understanding of federal grant and government cost accounting principles and audit issues; directs implementation of proper federal grant and contracting directives. Helps support operational needs related to the home office in Keystone. Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits: $65,000 - $70,000 annual salary, depending on experience, in addition to a full suite of benefits

Keystone’s home office is in Keystone, Colorado with additional offices in Denver and Washington, DC.

 Position description:

This is a full-time, year-round position responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance functions as well as management reporting, financial analysis, general ledger, complete account reconciliations, annual audit, and employee benefits administration.

A successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with at least 5 years of accounting experience. Confidence is a must in addition to excellent communication and organization skills. Reporting to the VP of Business and Administration, the Controller will play a crucial role in strategic planning, budgeting and implementing policies and procedures.

 Work environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

 Position type and expectations:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Some travel may be expected for this position.

The successful applicant will possess the following requirements: 5+ years of full-cycle accounting including preparation of financial statements
Experience with accounting software
Expertise in MS Excel
Ability to create a positive environment and work collaboratively with other team members

Educational Requirements

CPA and/or an associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Experience with non-profit accounting
Experience with benefits administration

Experience Requirements

At least 5 years of accounting experience.
