Colorado Jobs – Live and Work in America’s Playground

Colorado has long been considered ‘America’s Playground’, and it’s easy to see why. Say the word “Colorado” and people are likely to remember John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” ode to the wonders of Colorado. Outdoor activities for every season of the year keep travelers and tourists coming back and new residents moving into this incredibly diverse state.

Colorado, known for it’s average of 300 days a year sunshine is the home of the Rocky Mountains, 26 ski resorts (Colorado.com), 54 “fourteeners” (14ers.org) and rodeos, cowboys and a great arts and entertainment scene! It’s a place filled with things to do year round – fly-fishing, rock climbing, camping, river rafting, along with endless high country festivals in the summer, hunting in the fall and activities galore in the winter. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing; whatever and wherever the spirit takes you, Colorado is always ready, willing and able to offer a good time.

With the growing demand of population growth and steady influx of travelers, there’s no real shortage of Colorado jobs for seasonal or full time workers. Summit County, located between Denver to the east and Vail to the west, is a lucrative location, as is Breckenridge, a highlight of Summit County. Nearly 31% of new Colorado jobs in Summit County are to be found in Breckenridge – mainly in construction, ski area and recreation, and professional services that also include full-time medical and legal fields. Other mountain locals in Summit County, including Frisco, Copper Mountain, Keystone and Silverthorne account for nearly one-third of the total number of visitors to Colorado and offers jobs that cater to the ever growing needs of the tourists and new residents.

Steamboat Springs, located in Routt County is an Olympic-class ski resort. With real estate and retail expanding to the tune of a billion dollars or more, this Yampa Valley gem has a growing need for IT technology and construction. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Steamboat Springs every winter and summer, offering Routt County low unemployment rates.

Vail, located in Eagle County, is one of the most popular ski resort towns in the United States, and was founded as an ‘official’ ski resort in 1962. The town typically hires over 4,000 employees during ski season, but also offers year-round jobs in hospitality, retail, art galleries and more. Towns such as Eagle, Gypsum and Edwards also located in Eagle County and have been continually growing as popular relocation mountain towns as well.

Young and old alike covet Colorado mountain destinations; places in northern Colorado like Vail, Aspen, Summit County, Steamboat Springs, and southern Colorado mountain towns like Durango and Telluride offer a multitude of seasonal and permanent employment opportunities and draw new residents seeking the small town mountain lifestyle each and every year. Aspen, another Colorado favorite, is renowned for its world-class skiing and the never-ending lure of it’s outdoor wonderland in spring, summer and fall. Other mountain communities, such as Crested Butte, Winter Park, Silverton and Estes Park also attract those seeking the high country lifestyle and offer a variety of Colorado jobs as well.

Transportation, trade and utilities in the lead for employment opportunities, followed closely by leisure and hospitality careers and a continuing need for construction, mining and natural resources in all parts of the state, especially the mountain communities, will offer Colorado jobs to residents and newcomers for years to come.
