Some of these positions work outdoors while others are solely indoors. There are some roles that are a combination of the two, rotating to inside and outside locations.

Hospitality – The hospitality industry is in full force with the high number of tourists that visit Asheville. There is a need for innkeepers, housekeepers, desk clerks, maintenance crew, bellmen, management, and other roles. Most of these positions involve working indoors.

Government – Because of the size of Asheville with its different communities and how it is spread out, there is a demand for employees in several government roles, such as emergency operations call center staff, sanitation department staff, police and fire department personnel, parks and recreation, and utilities. The National Park Service and US Forestry service also have employees in the area. These positions often involve working outdoors as much or more than being indoors.

Construction – As a growing mountain town, construction projects are underway in the residential, commercial, medical, and industrial settings. The construction companies need carpenters, masons, bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, excavators, and other construction professionals.
