Gatlinburg Jobs – Tourism, Recreation and more

Located in Sevier County, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is quite the tourist town. With a booming spring, summer and fall, there are tourists that make their way to the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains throughout the year. The thriving downtown area includes various restaurants, museums, an aquarium, mini-golf courses, mountain coasters, ziplines, and amusement parks along with gift shops, candy shops, and boutiques. There is something for everyone. There is also a nature trail, which is part of the national park, and a popular ski resort, Ober Gatlinburg.

There has been extensive rebuilding since a fire from the national park spread into portions of the town in late 2016, so now everything is back in full force with a new Margaritaville resort, new hotels, and hundreds of rental cabins and cottages. The area offers fishing, hiking, and opportunities for watching wildlife. The town is known for its moonshine distilleries and homemade wines. With locals visiting the area throughout the year, and its proximity to the national park drawing in crowds throughout the different seasons, there are many job opportunities that offer regular employment. Some of these positions include working in the hospitality industry, restaurants, recreation, and tourism.

Hospitality – The area has hundreds of rental properties, including hundreds of cabins and cottages. These need maintenance and housekeeping work done regularly. The hotels, inns, and bed and breakfast establishments need desk clerks, managers, housekeepers, maintenance, security, groundskeepers, and more. These are year-round positions.

Restaurants – The restaurants stay busy year-round. There are pancake houses, ice cream shops, candy makers, fine dining, casual dining, and fast food restaurants. These locations need chefs, cooks, servers, bar tenders, hostesses, dishwashers, bus boys and managers. These are indoor positions that provide work throughout the year.

Recreation – With a ski resort, mini golf courses, zip lines, mountain coasters, and rafting, those who enjoy working outdoors can find work in the recreation field. Managers, cashiers, maintenance crew, ride staff, chair lift operators, gondola operators, management, and security, as well as parking attendants. Gatlinburg, Tennessee, offers recreational activities for every season.

Tourism – There are countless tourism related openings, such as marketing positions, photographers, craftsmen and artists, storytellers, and musicians, all who work throughout the town. With street performers and theatres, you can choose if you prefer to work inside, outside or rotate between the two. These roles need to be filled throughout the year.
