Winter Park Resort, which is owned by the city and county of Denver, reports that at least 50 percent of its annual visitors are from the Front Range. On a given day, ask those folks why they choose Winter Park, and they will tick off the short drive, the laid-back feel, the ideal balance of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain and the fact that they know it’s where other Coloradans go.
